it's a good thing...

i hope that's what martha would say about the dining room chairs. they were in need of recovering, so i went ahead and did it. i got some cute fat quarters at the quilt shop in poulsbo, i only spent $10 on the fabric! and viola, 1 hour later, we got 4 new chairs! i also washed them down, its amazing how much dirt we get on our chairs, kinda gross! :) any way, i took some before and after shots...enjoy!

i am woman...

hear me roar with excitement that lauren's quilt is FINALLY DONE!!! HALLELUJAH! i started this quilt about 4 weeks ago. and with lots of guidance and encouragement from erin (thank you!) we have a completed quilt. i actually wanted to make both kids a quilt for their birthdays...hahahahahahahahahhahaha!!!!!! that is just so funny just typing it! b/c making just this one felt like it took forever to complete, i couldn't imagine doing them back to back. i told andrew he would have his by Christmas. his is going to be fun to make, i already have fabrics for his and will start working on that in a couple of months. i have had lauren and andrew's quilts pictured in my head for years, and now, hers is finally complete! i could not have done it without the help of my good friend and wise quilting counselor erin. thank you for your endless advice, help and encouragement. without these things, i could not have finished this thing, let alone start on it. so here are some pics to see the finished product. i think i have some when i first started the quilt, so i will have to dig those up and post them later...until then...

some of the fabrics are flannel and some are just cotton, i wanted to mix up the textures a bit.

there it is in all its glory. it's a twin size quilt, kinda scary for my first quilt!

i just love the quilty wrinkles, looks so comfy, cause it is!

blindstitching the binding was the most boring part of this quilt...ugh!

just did a patchwork backer strip to give the back a little something extra.

this picture makes all that work worth it!

update on life

i figure its about time for an update. there really hasn't been much going on in our lives, which is why i haven't posted for a while. just been busy with school, work and kids...you know...life.

but something exciting did happen though, andrew went to his first school dance at KMS. i thought it was his first dance in general, but he reminded me of the one halloween dance he went to in durango, so there goes the excitement of his first dance. this dance was one of the formal dances being held this year, so it was an opportunity for the kids to dress up more. so we went shopping for his outfit, and ended up with a really cool look for him. he loved it, his hair even cooperated last night! lol! he said he had fun, except for the drama. i asked, "what drama?", he said, "there were people breaking up with people at the dance and they were crying and getting upset"...oh the middle school soap operas! lol! but he did say that he danced when they played good dancing songs, but they played a lot of dumb songs, so that kinda stunk. over all it sounded like a good night for him, which i'm happy about. here are some pics i took before the dance. enjoy and have a fun weekend!
